OCWAP Enforcement Action Summary:
Weyerhaeuser / Northwest Hardwoods
OCWAP initiated an enforcement action against Weyerhaeuser, Inc. on behalf of Sierra Club in October of 2005 regarding elevated levels of total suspended solids (TSS) in stormwater discharges from Weyerhaeuser’s Eugene Northwest Hardwoods facility (located on Prairie Road). Weyerhaeuser responded by taking various steps to reduce the amount of TSS in its stormwater discharges, and it appears that these steps are resulting in reduced TSS levels. Weyerhaeuser also agreed to send $15,000 to the City of Eugene, which the city plans to use in its efforts to acquire land near waterways that are threatened with development.
